This striking, hard and difficult to find turquoise comes from the NOW CLOSED Candelaria Mine in Nevada. These factors are what make it a collectors turquoise. High grade Candelaria, such as this stone, came from a section of the mine so difficult, it is now considered almost unreachable. This rare turquoise is known for its gorgeous blue color with reddish-brown matrix.
The beautifully designed, wide bezel surrounding the stone is masterfully crafted with overlay cutout work and large silver beads on each side by famed Navajo silversmith Jimmy Secatero. Crafted entirely of heavy, solid sterling silver and strung on an 18" necklace of 8mm sterling silver beads. The large 3/4" bail has a generous 10mm opening. The stone and surrounding bezel measures a large 2" tall (NOT counting the bail) by 1 & 3/8" at the widest point. Hallmarked with the artists full signature "Jimmy Secatero", "Navajo" and "sterling" on the back. Weighs a hefty 54 grams. We have an amazing ring whose stone is a nice match to this necklace (R9120). Be sure to check it out.
